3. Overexercising
Everyone knows that dieting is a numbers game: You have to burn more calories than you consume. But don’t work out to the point of exhaustion. If you’re logging long hours on the treadmill without the proper fuel, you’ll wind up starving—and stuffing your face later.
My motto? Everything in moderation. Keep your workouts consistent but don’t go crazy.
4. Thinking that all days are the same
Let’s say that every day you eat an egg-white omelette for breakfast, a midmorning snack of yogurt, and soup and salad for lunch—only today you’re starving by 3 p.m. Too often dieters tell themselves to ignore their hunger cues and try not to eat any more until dinner. The problem is they’re setting themselves up for defeat.
Every day is different. You might be tired, hormonal, or just plain hungrier today. You need to listen to your body: If you’re hungry, have a small snack. Learn the difference between real hunger and a craving, and act on the former.
5. Eating too few calories
Don’t be afraid of food. Many women set ridiculously unrealistic calorie goals, and they wind up emotionally defeated when they fail to come within their target range. Everybody is different, so don’t focus so much on the numbers. Keep portions reasonable, and leave the math to high schoolers.

I eat a substantion breakfast (bagel with peanut butter and banana or a bowl of oatmeal) for lunch I will eat a yogurt, salad and a bowl of soup, snack is a handful of peanuts, then i hit the gym doing cardio and some weights.,the key is that you have to do some form of excersise. even if it is walking. Walking will help you to shed the pounds .. a 10 minute walk every day. then up the time 15, 20….and try not to snack after dinner (usually something high in protein) drink water…..
this has helped me to lose 6 pounds in 2 months…..
Why is Bethenny Frankel writing a diet article. She is certainly not a Registered Dietician. Please have Evelyn Tribole or Elyse Resch who are both RDs and nutrition therapists. Very disappointing article. Very short, very little new information.
South beach diet free plan is a scam, I’ve been trying to sign on and they won’t accept my name, am I supposed to make up a fake name that I won’t remember? I lost over 50 lbs by following their book but need to lose another 50. Can you help me?
