From Health magazine
Criminal Minds actress AJ Cook is trying to shed her baby weight. Check back here each month to see how she’s putting Health’s Feel Great Weight plan to work.
Her story: “I gained 40 pounds during a difficult pregnancy on national TV! That was tough—it’s hard to see your body change and have no control over it. But now I want people to see that I have to work just as hard as anyone else to take it off. And I really feel strongly that it’s important to do it the healthy way.
Now that I’m back on the show, I have crazy hours, which makes things tricky. (That, and staying away from baked goods—I love a good vanilla or red velvet cupcake!)
But my goal is to get back to a toned and healthy body, even if I don’t get all the way back to my prepregnancy weight. And, honestly, I’m OK with that now because when I come home after a long day and see Mekhai smile at me it’s all worth it!”

I don’t think featuring AJ Cook was inspirational or motivational. Her starting weight of 131.5 and body fat of 24.5 were well within the healthy range. To showcase her as a role model, even if she is a new Mom with a FEW POUNDS of excess fat to lose, did not do your readers justice. She had a team of FIVE PEOPLE to help her lose a mere 12 1/2 pounds? And that’s supposed to be lauded as a praiseworthy and motivating success story? I suppose you are trying to capture TV viewers by promoting this actress’s journey and/or target the new Moms who are seeking fitness and diet support. But I think you could have chosen a much more appropriate woman to feature.
I am also pissed at Health for this article. Why, in God’s name, would Health choose AJ Cook as a role model when, at 123 pounds, she looks GREAT, and yet her goal is 115? At 5′5.5″ 115 pounds is way too thin. I’m 5′4″ and 130. And I’m thin. ENCOURAGING a 15 pound weight loss for someone of AJ’s height/build is irresponsible. At 115 she’ll look skeletal.
What is it,
I am irritated that a magazine which touts itself as a guide to help women be healthy is showing someone setting goals which are unrealistic for MOST women in the world, i.e. the average woman – their reader base. I am 5′3″, and I weigh 115. I wear a size 4. I work out for an hour 3 days a week, and I ride my bike to work every day. Most would consider this a very healthy life style. I can see why anyone who is even a little overweight would read this and feel really badly about themselves. Shame on you, Health Magazine.
She looks great! I lost excess weight by working out in the mornings on an empty stomach and taking all natural Acai eez. The Acai eez aids in my weight loss by curving my appetite, and speeding up the metabolism. I have more energy and I have lost nineteen pounds so far. They offer a special on their website ( http://www.acai-eez.com ) of Buy 3 get 1 free so I know I can save money while I lose weight. The Acai eez made the difference for me in my weight loss
115 is pretty reasonable for an actress. The camera puts on weight – it’s like tsking at a ballerina for being extra thin. No one is telling you to look like a ballerina. It’s part of her career to look good on television – that requires a lower body weight than the rest of us and it can be done healthily. The program is called ‘Feel Great Weight’ so use your own head to decide what you need to weigh! I think she is so beautiful as is – I remember that little belly and bum combo after my pregnancy – it was nice to feel like a woman. This is a great program and so glad that it’s free! Gonna try it with my partner.
