There are far better FREE diets online then the FGW. Try a dietitian's diet. The FGW diet is less flexible than most, less convenient, less personalized and less relevant to most dieter's lifestyles. This diet is just too contrived - and not relevant to my lifestyle and I doubt it will be helpful for anyone long-term. After all, what's the point in a diet if you put the pounds right back on in a month or so?

I think that the most important factor in losing weight is motivation. One should have a strong reason why to lose weight. I have managed to lose weight and keep it away by thinking everyday what are the benefits of being fit. Think what you want, not what you don't want. If you feel that the agony of losing weight is greater than benefits of being fit, you are doomed to fail. Pills, books, doctors and diet plans can be very helpful, but they are useless if you don't have a strong reason why.

I think this is great advice. I know what it's like to try and lose weight. I lost 47 pounds in 6 weeks using the Rapidthin diet at www.rapidthin.com. Good luck to all. Use what works for you.

I was a Weight Watcher and I am stuck. I lost 80 lbs and put 20 on and really am frustrated. I still look okay but feel so heavy. I am 62 and am afraid i will be obsessing about this until I die...Got any ideas, out there?
I work out 5x a week and journal all my food.

The menu plan looks awesome but how does this work when your man loves his beef and potatoes? How do you incorporate cooking for 2 into the mix??

hey! I'm 48, too...I have 60 lbs to lose. I don't have the same health probs, though. Just depression and achey feet (from hauling the extra poundage)... and I must tell you, I've been where you are, only moreso, where 12 years ago, I was 120 lbs overweight. I've taken about 75 of those lbs off, and gained a little bit back, and now I'm getting myself back in the fight again. You can do this.

Matter of fact, I read online about a woman who lost hundreds of pounds...seriously, she was huge. At first, her only exercise was to clap her hands to the Richard Simmons workout tapes. That was all she was able to do at first...anyway...

Don't you love Richard Simmons? He has skinny people and fat people up there with him, and shows how much they've lost at the end of the workout.

what are you doing wrong? First of all, I would never eat fat free anything unless it were naturally without lots of fats, like spinach or carrots or whole grains. Those fat free dressings and mayos/miracle whips...They replace the fats in those with pretty unhealthy stuff...non-foods that can't feed your body. Mix your tuna with cottage cheese: adds protein, calcium and not much calories, and tastes good, too.

And maybe you're not getting enough calories. What does your doc say you're doing wrong?

have you ever kept a food journal? Writing down everything you put in your mouth may show some things that surprise you. Because if you've been eating every day as you describe here, and exercising regularly...you should see some weight come off by now.

What about your clothes? Are they fitting better or baggy? maybe you're gaining muscle which trims you down without always shedding pounds at first. (Muscle weighs more than fat)

This is what I've been doing for about the past month: Following the Gabriel Method. It's more about changing your mindset, rather than following a strict eating plan, and adding high quality nutrition to your daily foods (like ground flaxseed and whey protein powder. High nutrient density stuff) You "think yourself thin" AND start feeding your body what it needs, in order to convince it to let go of the fat. It's a book and you can get a CD too. I ordered it online for about $10 Amazon.com

I haven't stepped on a scale for a few weeks (VERY different for me) but I'm seeing some changes in my face. I suppose.
