Five cups of green tea every day could help you shed twice as much weight—most of it around your middle, according to a Journal of Nutrition study. Researchers also found that people who had sports drinks with green tea for 12 weeks lowered their levels of triglycerides, a blood fat linked to heart disease.
Catechins (the antioxidants in the tea) are thought to boost energy and enhance fat-burning, and they may influence body composition in other ways.
Looking for lasting weight loss that won’t leave you hungry? Add a few cups of green tea each day to our Feel Great Weight meal plan for fast (and safe!) results.

White tea is a more mild form of green tea. It is the immature buds of the green tea. It has more antioxidants and is great for weight loss.

Splenda gives me diarrhea and stomach cramps! Plus all the substitutes EXCEPT Stevia, make me crave sugar.
Everybody has different taste buds & palletes……. Some can stand sour things, while others can’t. EVERYBODY, is not the same on sweetness or how much……. If YOU can stand something such as a grapefruit without sugar, than great…. some CAN’T. Don’t critisize them for it! Do u like every food there is? If someone tries to eat something healthy, but needs to add something to make it edible, then that’s their choice. It might lower the “diet” effect, but again, their choice!
That may be, Brazil, but everyone has their own tastebuds and their own likes and dislikes. So if one person likes something with an addition to it, like a fake sugar or salt on it, and you don’t… Fine, then don’t eat it with anything on it. But don’t jump down people’s throats for saying that they like a packet of fake sugar or some salt on something. I Am not that crazy about putting salt on my foods, except for maybe on fries and a couple other things, but I kno0w some people who put salt on d@#n near everything! So I just watch and don’t say anything. Let it be…
the need to ingest “real” or “fake” sugar is something people need to get over. both are dangerous to one’s health. does everything need to be either sweet or salty? the answer for people who are hooked on processed foods of any sort is “yes”, sadly. the recent kessler book on the subject is right on.
can’t understand why someone has to sweeten grapefruit! it’s a fruit, and has plenty of its own sugar/sweetness.
Eat a grapefruit — plain, without ANYTHING on it — and see how it tastes. You need to put a pack of sweetener on it or real sugar or something sweet like that to get a good taste. I put a pack of Sweet ‘n’ Low on my grapefruit.
with or without sugar, which one is better?
Obviously, withOUT sugar is best, but I, personally, like to use ‘Sweet ‘n’ Low’ in my drinks, such as tea, or on something like a half a grapefruit. And ‘Sweet ‘n’ Low’ is my favorite. I don’t care much for the other “fake sugars” like ‘Equal’ or any other kind. To each his (or her) own, I always say.
Try Splenda – it’s a sugar derivitive. tastes the same, just try it and it’s better for you than the other “fake sugars”. Really!
Splenda is still a fake sugar, yes it begins with sugar but is altered and not a natural product. There is some evidence that using fake sugars can lead to weight gain. I believe it’s because your body is primed for calories it doesn’t get and so you over compensate for those calories later.
I’ve tried Splenda… Don’t like it. Just like they said in that one commercial… “I can’t have muh coffee without muh Sweet’n'Low!” I like Sweet’n'Low and that’s the end of it. I do NOT like ANY other fake sugars. Period.
Try Stevia. Its a South American herb that is readily available in health food stores and places like Trader Joe’s. I grow it in my garden and use it in coffee, tea, cereal and lots of other places one would usually put a teaspoon of sugar.
